Ebeveynlerin Virüs Salgınına İlişkin Duygu Durumları ve Çocuklara Etkileri
Özet
The outbreak of virus epidemic, which has had a profound impact on the whole world and become a pandemic, has created anxiety in individuals of all age groups. This research was carried out to investigate the emotional states of the mothers and the effects on the stress levels of their on 8-11 years children. The research has been designed as a relational screening model to determine the relationship between mothers’ positive and negative affections and their children’s stress levels. In the data collection phase of the research, due to social isolation conditions, instead of face-to-face interviews, the interview form was applied electronically with the participants. “Positive&Negative Emotions Scale” was used to determine the emotions of the mothers and “Perceived Stress in Children Scale” was used to detect the stress situations of the children. In the assessment phase of the data, regression analysis was performed to determine the relationship between the negative and positive affects of the mothers and the stress levels perceived by the children. Independent group t-test analysis was used in binary comparisons while detecting the differences between the groups. In the study, it was revealed that the negative emotions of the mothers were high (48.7; max 48, min 37) whereas the negative emotions of the mothers increased the perceived stress levels of their children. When the variation status of the positive and negative emotional variables according to the age of the mothers was investigated, we found that there was no significant difference at all. The data obtained also showed the high-intensity of the negative emotions of the mothers involved. Furthermore, it was revealed that the positive-negative emotional levels of the mothers affected the stress coping levels of their children. The relevance of the research to the literature has been discussed, and suggestions have been made for the researchers and the members of professions based on mother-child interactions.
