dc.description.abstractIn recent years, there has been an increase in the number of studies on the use of augmented and virtual reality technologies in education. There are findings in the literature that these technologies have positive effects in acquiring skills and teaching course content for individuals with normal development and special needs. The aim of the study is to systematically examine the studies on the use of augmented and virtual reality technologies for individuals with special needs between the years 2018-2022. In the study, the keywords “virtual reality”, “augmented reality”, “mixed reality” and “special education” were searched in the databases of ERİC, Google Akademik, Proquest, TrDizin and Yöktez together with their English equivalents. As a result of the screening, 40 studies were included in the sample group in line with in-scope and out-of-scope criteria and analyzed by content analysis method. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the majority of the studies between the years 2018-2022 were articles, the most studies were conducted in 2021, the sample groups were between 1-5, the most frequent interview form was used in the data collection tool, the AR or SG applications were not developed, but the existing applications were used, the majority of them. It has been reached that the findings are carried out with quantitative research methods. In addition, by examining the results of the studies, it was determined that the use of AR and VR technologies in individuals with special needs positively supported the learning, teaching and skill acquisition processes.en_US
