Abstract

Neglect and abuse towards children; It negatively affects the growth and development of children. Child abuse; It is preventing the child's basic needs from being met. This situation significantly negatively affects the child's cognitive, language, moral, social, emotional and sexual development areas. All kinds of abuse and neglect leave permanent scars. There are research results showing that scars of physical and emotional trauma have long-term effects throughout life. This thesis project, prepared under the headings such as how to communicate with the child, the judicial process on the subject, and protective suggestions against abuse; It explains what to do in cases of abuse. This work; It provides an overview of the possible effects of child abuse and neglect. The negative consequences of different types of maltreatment during childhood and adolescence are described in this study. At the same time, detailed research on parental awareness is included. Research shows that mothers who have experienced maltreatment have more difficulty meeting their children's needs and being emotionally available. Some studies have shown that individuals who are subjected to maltreatment, neglect, and abuse experience a variety of mental disorders, including various types of depressive disorders, panic disorder or generalized anxiety disorder, substance abuse, or antisocial personality disorders. It is very important for parents to be aware of whether their child is being abused or neglected. Parents' awareness of exposure to cyberbullying and abuse can reduce digital abuse against children. In this study, a detailed literature research was conducted on the dimensions of neglect and abuse in children, parental awareness and cyberbullying in the digital environment. Solution suggestions related to the issue are also presented.
