According to the Taxonomy Committee of the International Association of Pain Researches ‘’Pain is a form of unpleasant sensory or behavior related to the past experiences of an individual caused by a specific area of the body, depends or does not depend on a tissue damage.’’ Pain, which is a subjective concept, is one of the common results after the operation, which adversely affects the quality of life of the individual and prevents the maintenance of daily living activities independently. In the literature, it has been reported that children experience moderate and severe pain in the postoperative period and have experienced negative physiological conditions such as suppression of immune system, postoperative infection and delay in wound healing due to ineffective pain management. In the literature, it has been reported that children experience moderate and severe pain in the postoperative period and have experienced negative physiological conditions such as suppression of immune system, postoperative infection and delay in wound healing due to ineffective pain management. Effective pain management is important for improving quality of life, reducing complications and shortening the length of hospital stay. For the management of pain in children and adults, clinical guidelines recommend the use of non-pharmacological methods with various analgesics. Music therapy, which is known as alternative therapeutic approaches, is preferred by researchers in recent years. Music therapy was used by Bonry for the first time in order to reduce the pain and anxiety of the patients in the coronary intensive care unit. In the literature, studies conducted with colonoscopy, coronary and surgical intensive care units, and studies with orthopedic adult patients have reported that music reduces the level of pain and anxiety. However, in the studies conducted with pediatric patients in the world, music therapy has been reported to be an effective method for reducing pain. But; only one study evaluating the effect of music in pediatric patients has been reached in our country. As a result of this study, it is stated that music therapy decreases pain within the first six hours after surgery. On pediatric patients in Turkey, investigating the effect of music therapy has a greater need to work and after the surgery with the use of music with pharmacological methods for effective pain management in children, nurses need to be organized training for the purpose of using non-pharmacological methods such as music therapy.en_US
